Welcome to the Santa Maria Joint Union High School District!

As we reflect on the progress and accomplishments of our school community, I want to express my deepest gratitude to every member of our district – students, staff, families, and partners. Your unwavering commitment and dedication to our shared mission have helped create a learning environment where our students are growing academically and are also supported in all aspects of their development.

At the heart of everything we do are our guiding principles, which drive our daily efforts and decisions:

• Student Learning and Well-Being:  We remain focused on fostering an environment where all students can thrive academically, socially, and emotionally. Every decision we make is with the goal of supporting the individual needs of our students, ensuring that they are prepared for success now and in the future.
• Safety of Students and Staff:  The safety and security of our students and staff is our top priority. We are committed to creating a safe, welcoming space for learning, where all members of our community feel supported and protected. This is not only crucial to student success but essential to creating a positive school culture.
• Equitable Access to a Quality Educational Program:  We believe that every student, regardless of background or circumstance, deserves access to a high-quality education. Our goal is to provide opportunities for all students to reach their full potential through a rigorous, standards-based curriculum, and to ensure that every learner has the best instruction, resources and support they need to succeed.

¡Bienvenidos al Distrito Escolar Unificado de Preparatorias de Santa María!

Al reflexionar sobre el progreso y los logros de nuestra comunidad escolar, quiero expresar mi más profundo agradecimiento a cada miembro de nuestro distrito: estudiantes, personal, familias y colaboradores. Su inquebrantable compromiso y dedicación a nuestra misión compartida han contribuido a crear un entorno de aprendizaje donde nuestros estudiantes crecen académicamente y reciben apoyo en todos los aspectos de su desarrollo.

En el centro de todo lo que hacemos se encuentran nuestros principios que nos guian, que impulsan nuestros esfuerzos y decisiones a diario:

• Aprendizaje y bienestar estudiantil: Nos mantenemos enfocados en fomentar un entorno donde todos los estudiantes puedan prosperar académica, social y emocionalmente. Cada decisión que tomamos tiene como objetivo apoyar las necesidades individuales de nuestros estudiantes, asegurando que estén preparados para el éxito ahora y en el futuro.
• Seguridad de los estudiantes y el personal: La seguridad de nuestros estudiantes y personal es nuestra principal prioridad. About the Superintendent:

Antonio Garcia has been serving as Superintendent for the Santa Maria Joint Union High School District since January of 2020.  Prior to moving to Santa Maria, Mr. Garcia served in the Riverside Unified School District as Assistant Superintendent of Professional Growth Systems, Assistant Superintendent of Curriculum & Instruction, High School Principal, and Middle School Principal.  He also worked for the Riverside County Office of Education as Principal in Residence, coaching high school principals across the county.  Mr. Garcia began his career as a high school teacher for the Whittier Union High School District in the Los Angeles area, where he grew up.  He holds a Bachelor’s degree from Stanford University and a Master’s degree from Brown University.  He and his wife Maria, a Spanish teacher, have two daughters.

Antonio García ha estado sirviendo como Superintendente  del Distrito Escolar de Preparatorias de Santa Maria desde enero de 2020.  Antes de mudarse a Santa María, el Sr. García sirvió en el Distrito Escolar Unificado de Riverside como Superintendente Asistente de Sistemas de Crecimiento Profesional, Superintendente Asistente de Currículo e Instrucción, Director de Escuela Preparatoria y Director de Escuela Intermedia.  También trabajó para la Oficina de Educación del Condado de Riverside como Director en Residencia, entrenando a directores de escuelas preparatorias en todo el condado.  El Sr. García comenzó su carrera como maestro de preparatoria para el Districto Escolar de Preparatorias de Whittier en el área de Los Ángeles, donde creció.  Tiene un bachillerato de la Universidad de Stanford y una maestría de la Universidad de Brown. Él y su esposa María, maestra de español, tienen dos hijas.
