The Santa Maria Joint Union High School District Bond Oversight Committee was established in December 2004, pursuant to Education Code Sections 15278 through 15282.  The overall legislative responsibility of this Committee is to "inform the public concerning the expenditure of Measure C 2004 and Measure H2016 Bonds revenues".  The Committee established its bylaws in 2005, with amendments in 2008 and 2012.  These bylaws guide the governance of this committee.

The law requires that the Committee consist of at least seven members, five of whom must meet the following criteria:  one member must be an active member of the business community; one member shall be active in a senior citizen's organization; one member shall be active in a bona fide taxpayer's organization; one member shall be a parent or guardian of a child enrolled in the district; and one member shall be both a parent or guardian of a child enrolled in the district and active in a parent-teacher organization.

The Committee annually produces a report to the community reporting on the expenditures of the district on Measure C 2004 and Measure H2016 Bond funds revenues. Each annual report is published no later than March 31st following each fiscal year.  The reports are available for public review at the district office, located at 2560 Skyway, Santa Maria, CA, and on the district's website.

Meetings are held in the board room of the Support Services Center at 2560 Skyway Drive, Santa Maria, CA at 6:30 p.m. on the third Wednesday of March, June, September and December.
